Let Go & Let God
Many of us have read Exodus 14. This is the story of Moses and the Israelites and how God delivered them from the hands of Pharaoh by empowering Moses to part the Red sea and allowing the Israelites to pass through on dry ground, and then, causing the army of Pharaoh to perish in the same Red sea. This is usually the dominant event in that passage. Today, I’d like to draw our attention to some other very significant events that took place on that same day, that Christians today can draw inspiration from.
When the Israelites saw the army of Pharaoh chasing them, they became fearful and cried out to Moses- accusing him of bringing them out of Egypt to die in the desert. The Moses responded in verses 13-14 saying “ Fear ye not, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will show you today: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them no more forever. (14) The Lord shall fight for you and ye shall hold your peace”. Then from verse 19, the scripture says “ And the angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud went from before them and stood behind them. So it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel. Thus it was a cloud of darkness to the one, and it gave light by night to the other, so that the one did not come near the other all that night”.
When the Lord has promised us deliverance from a trying situation, and we are still en route to the end result, it becomes very easy to become discouraged, especially when there is a wait involved. When we are trying to remain positive and stand strong in faith but we see the enemy advancing to unleash more damage, it is not uncommon to be afraid and wonder if God has abandoned us. This passage is encouraging us, as Moses encouraged the Israelites, to not be afraid and allow God to do that which He has promised that He will do. When the Lord has assured us a victory over the enemy, then we have to hold fast and let Him manifest His glory.
The passage tells us that it is the Lord that will fight for us and give us peace, as long as we believe. The other part tells us that when the Lord is leading us out of our troubles, it is He that leads us. The Israelites were completely unaware that an angel of the Lord was going before them leading the way. Then that same angel went behind them with a pillar of cloud and made dark the way of their enemies while in their way was light, so that their enemies could not see them, let alone catch up with them. How awesome is the mighty hand of God! When the Lord makes a way for us out of our negative circumstances, HE makes the way. HE charges the angel that will stand guard and fight for us. HE provides the covering by which our enemies cannot see us or harm us. Because it is all for HIS glory.
So Brethren, as we go through this new year, the key is to let go, and let God be God. Let us truly believe that though we only see the present circumstances, God sees the end result and if He has assured us that He will never forsake those that diligently seek Him, then He won’t forsake us-as long as we diligently seek Him.
Please share your thoughts that you might encourage your brethren.
In Christ,
The handmaid at His feet.

IT is a great feeling when we can finally let go and Let God have complete control of our lives. I am not sure what makes us continue to hold on, like we have the power to do anything? It is just heart-warming and comforting to know that God is in control. I guess maybe the problem is that, we dont seem to understand the path God takes us sometimes and that tends to make us question whether we should still let God do His thing, or take the wheel back. I think there is a big element of trusting God that is in like with letting go and Letting God take over. May God help us all

I wish I knew how to let go. Sometimes it is difficult, because one feels like God is silent, and its almost like I have to just take matters into my own hands because I am not hearing from God. And obviously, that always fails, but I wish I just knew exactly what to do, exactly how to let go….I dont know…good write-up tho

Hmmmmm…How does one let go? It is certainly not easy but it is possible. Let go and let God…means to hold on to God and let go of your problems. It is impossible to hold on to God if you are still holding on to your problems. Psalm 55:22 says “Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.” Simply put, let go of your problems and give it to God, just like the write-up alluded to. You have to trust that God will take care of you despite the ‘impossible’ circumstance you may be facing. if the Israelites had taken matters into their own hands, some would have given up and ran back to the army of Pharoah, some would have been scared and tried to swim across the Red Sea…They didn’t do any of that, instead they looked upon the person God sent (Moses) and cried out unto Him, and Moses through the power of God, the Red Sea was split open. The same way you have to learn to pray and cry out to God during those desperate times. You have to learn to trust God entirely, because when you do that, you can be sure that even when it seems like God is silent, He is actually working behind the scenes. it says He will NEVER let the righteous fall. So your job is to learn to live a righteous life, in so doing, you can be sure that God will never let you fall. When you are scared, just get on your knees and pray to God, trusting that He will strengthen you and redeem you. Because God is silent doesn’t mean He has forsaken or forgotten you. God is like a GPS sometimes…when you have to drive in a certain direction for 20 miles..the GPS doesnt talk back until there are about 2 miles left on the trip. But it remains silent, because you are on the right track, going in the right direction. Sometimes, God just wants you to keep going forward and heading in the right direction, and if need be, He will speak at the appropriate time. Be patient with God, he will always come through. Hope I made a little bit of sense. God Bless
